You won’t find more changes to Ersamus” work than happened between this 2nd edition of his, 1519, and the compromises not made in his 1st edition, 1516. The publication of Erasmus’s New Testament is the stuff of legends. Before Erasmus, nobody had ever translated from the original Greek to correct Jerome’s translation. Erasmus purposely made his translation universal, as all the educated in West Europe can speak Latin. Thus he put his latin rendering side by side with the Greek. This is the translation of the reformation.

This is what all Bibles are based on. Both Luther and Tyndale rendered their translations virtually word for word what Erasmus had translsted into Latin. The myth’s grew greater than the reality. Tyndale was no expert in the Greek, but moved with the power of Paul. All protestants in the West relied on Erasmus’ Latin rendering of the Greek.

In fact, Tyndale was the 1st to ever translate any of Erasmus’ works into english. It’s recently been proven. The work was the 1st english version of Erasmus’ “Christsin Knight”. Tyndale was inspired by Erasmus when very young and based his own book,”Life of a Christian Man” on Erasmus’ theme for “Christian Knight”. Poetic that both Erasmus and Tyndale died the same year, 1536, the official height of the reformation. Curiously enough, Erasmus’ translation wouldn’t have went very far had not Pope Leo X gave him official license to do it. Leo protected him. Both Leo X and Erasmus were personal tutors to King Charles V when he was a boy. The King who went on to lead the Spanish Empire into the Americas.

The 1st European colony in America to stick was St. Augustine, Florida, founded by one of King Charles V’s generals, Constantine. You can’t make this stuff up. It’s quite obvious that both Leo X and Erasmus were part of the Augustinian order. The only other serious rival order was the Franciscan Friars, who later became the Jesuits. The reformation’s victories wouldn’t have come if not for Leo X and Erasmus very consciously leading it. It was a civil war at the highest levels; Good old St. Augustine vs. the infiltrating pagans again, whilst the Muslims were flooding Europe, and Erasmus had the leading role in the planning the New World.

Erasmus had more to do with our current form of government than anyone who signed the declaration of Independence.Charlemagne was King Charles the 1st. He reigned through the first three Pope Leos. Pagan Leo III finally secured church/state power in 800AD which inevitably led to the conflict of the reformation/self defense, for Leo III was a wicked man. He sent Charlemagne, who was in France, three Keys as the signal to invade Rome & establish him as the 1st great Pope King. Charles V invaded Rome too, but for the good. I read too much and have too many books. At least that’s what my wife’s nagging is telling me, so time to sell! History is quite prophetic, but all the history channel talks about is aliens for the past two decades. “The trash can wait for one second woman! I can only do one thing at a time!”. Bye for now.
