JESUS NEVER SAID ADULTERY JUSTIFIES DIVORCE
Tell me, if Joseph was “righteous” for not disclosing his wife Mary’s adultery (as he thought at the time); How can any believe Christ preached an exception for His no divorce law? For if Joseph were to have publicly accused his wife of adultery, it would have been sin. So how can any say Christ taught that the only way we can lawfully divorce our wives, is if we sin by publicly accusing them of adultery? Christ new commandment would be worse than Moses law on divorce, not better!
Also, did not Christ Himself show us that the standard for divorce is nothing less than “until death do us part”? Only when the curtain rent, was the covenant broken. And only when STEPHEN the 1st Christian Martyr was killed, were the Apostles no longer bound under marriage contract to their people, but divorced, could lawfully go to the gentiles.
“Til Death do us part”. This is no new revelation. Everyone knows its wrong to divorce no matter what intuitively.
MORE PROOF?
Proof that the earliest of Christians always understood Christ this way is in the Christian marriage contract performed before many witnesses. They both say, “until death do us part”. Now if adultery & not just death was also grounds to not be bound to the covenant, then this clause would be spoken, lest the man or woman be condemned by their own words. And so if we don’t mean it, why do we vow it? Christians use to ALL mean it because they knew what Christ commanded. This is why the Apostles surprised, asked Christ privately, “how then is it good for any man to be married?’.
Time..
..has proven the Truth of what I say; The Child has proven what He said. This perverted understanding of what Christ commanded has been allowed to play out in the West, & we can all see the evil fruit of it. We see what its done to our society; our families… What families?
The marriage vows are a Holy contract with more authority than anything written by man. Christ cries in every courtroom & to all parties, every victim seeking to reward evil with evil; “If you’d only understand, I desire mercy, NOT sacrifice!”.
Christ never preached a divorce exception like Moses did. He preached no divorce period. The contradiction isn’t in Christs’ doctrine but in what I believed most my life.
THE GREEK
There’s only two verses in Matthew that mention this so called, “exception” to the law. Both are obvious corrupted renderings of the Greek into our language. The printed Greek manuscripts began to omit one word found in (Matthew 19:9) around 1700s. Yet it can still be seen in Erasmus’ published manuscripts, 1550 Stephanus, the Russian ones, & all published Greek manuscripts before the 1700s.
Even with this one word being omitted, one can easily see the corruption of the renderings, even by the simple logic shared at the opening of this article. But with the original Greek word included, it’s undeniably obvious to the most simple of men. We don’t have to know Greek to know the Truth. Let’s look at another logical proof that God put in the Word to protect it from these very corruptions:
Besides the two Matthew verses, every time the law of no divorce is mentioned, which are many, the law’s get out of jail free card is never mentioned! Not even when Paul gives specific instructions in letters to Church leadership on the governing rules of management, does he mention this exemption, as he tells them divorce is forbidden.
WHY?
This commandment of Christ has always been problematic for Kings. Look at how John the Baptist died. Or the drama of King Henry the 8th & William Tyndale. It’s no wonder such a strong effort to corrupt the scriptures on this one point was made, but what’s amazing, is how incredibly the most powerful on earth failed.
This common sense of the Spirit of the Word led many people before me to search out the contradiction, & every one of them found what I’ve found, gold. I’m far from the first person to defend this commandment of Christ.
I wish there was an exception. I had to walk-back what I believed most my life. I believed it because my heart was too hard to receive anything more than what Moses taught. If anyone calls me on the proof, I won’t argue, I’ll just post it. But all have enough to verify what I say without more labor from me, if they care to know.
THE HYPOCRISY
Besides all else, just imagine the hypocrisy in believing that though Christ forgives our unfaithfulness, He teaches us that we’re perfectly justified in throwing away our wives & publicly calling them whores if they be unfaithful to us just once. Do you Christians know Jesus at all?? Have you heard His parable concerning the Rich Lord who forgave his servants debt, only for that servant to be a hypocrite & go to the law concerning a debt someone owed him?
And what was the fate of that wicked servant? Have I offended anyone? Do you disagree with me? What will be your fate oh hypocrite? Why’d you vow that only DEATH could annul the covenant if you didn’t mean it? All else aside, your own words condemn you. You dare suggest Christ defends you in this?
CONCLUSION
What’s so revolutionary about Christ, this Revolution that nothing will stop, is that He didn’t come to accuse the abusers. He came to accuse the victims, that is, the accusers. Because like a good doctor, He is curing the cancer at the root cause, not the symptoms as the wicked doctor of the West does.
If we’d only learn that Christ desires Mercy, not justice. Mercy, not sacrifice. Vengeance is God’s, not the abused, not the victim, not the raped, not the cheated on, not the murdered, but God’s. Prisons have always created more prisons because our law of Moses based on rewarding evil for evil is not just, nor practical. It CAUSES the very thing it claims to prevent until inevitably, society collapses. The failure of Moses law was well proven by the time of Christ. And so I leave it with this… How Long? How Long? How Long?
