Audacious neighborhood, the wisest heart
Of SOLOMON he led by fraud to build
His Temple right against the Temple of God

Most all are familiar with the 2nd version of Paradise Lost published in 1674, the very same year John Milton died. Many falsely believe the work was expanded from its original ten books of 1667, to the twelve books of his death in 1674, but in fact, it was simply chopped up into tinier pieces, divided amongst printers more greedy than I, with nothing added to the work except a few editorial changes; changes of a mysterious nature.

PARADISE LOST. A POEM Written in TEN BOOKS By JOHN MILTON: LONDON 1667

They say it was divided into 12 to match Virgil’s Aeneid, and to complete some divine nature hogwash. I doubt not the reason of hogwash. I only doubt that it was John Milton’s hogwash. He was dying sick all that year. The history is unnecessarily vague as to the matter this 2nd edition was executed, concerning John Milten’s person in particular.

It’s not hard to see that the ones owning the rights to Paradise Lost, those persons not being John, were quite desperate to cash in on another production of his most popular book before his death, desperate enough to make a 2nd edition that deceivingly leads one on to think anything has been added, when if anything, a bit was lost. And thus in wicked vengeance did Samuel chop the the body of he whom was showed mercy into a billion pieces. Saul’s great unpardonable sin? Mercy… “If only you woulda ever understood, that God desire mercy, not sacrifice.” -J.C.

THIS EXISTS NOWHERE ELSE—WE RESURRECTED THIS ORIGINAL FIRST EDITION FROM THE PIT OF DEATH, Milton’s death in particular,

Much labor was spent, page by page, to bring to life a printable version of the scanned original book, the one that made him so famous during the rest of his life; the only version he knew until his death. All that was available to the public before now, are the dark, blotched & corroded MicroFilms of the 1667 original. When we saw that not one person had restored the original, burden was quickly followed by the joy of so high an office falling on the likes of us. A service to mankind?! We are not worthy. We know Ten was Milton’s number, not 12, and that his division was properly placed, absent of greedy haste.

We’re honored to present to the world what it has had to wait too long for,
342 pages long, nothing was added, no text retyped, all is exactly the 1667 publication, even down to its’ cover

QUOTE FROM THIS BOOK PROVING HIS INTEGRITY & KNOWLEDGE OF THE JEWS & THE BIBLE:

“By falsities & lies the greatest part
Of Mankind they corrupted to forsake
God their Creator, & the invisible
Glory of him, that made me, to transform
Oft to the Image of a Brute, adorn’d
With gay Religions full of Pomp & Gold,
And Devils to adore for Deities:
Then were they known to men by various Names,
And various Idols through the Heathen world.
The chief were those from the Pit of Hell
Roaming to seek their prey on earth, doth fix
Their Seats long after next the Seat of God,
Their Altars by his Altar, Gods ador’d
Among the Nations round, & durst abide
JEHOVAH thundering out of SION, thron’d
Between the Cherubim; yea, often placed
Within his Sanctuary it self their Shrines,
And with their darkness durst affront his light.

First MOLOCH, horrid King besmear’d with blood
Of human sacrifice, and parent’s tears,
Though for the noise of Drums & Timbrels loud
Their childrens cries unheard, that past through the fire
To his grim Idol. Him the AMMONITE
Worshipt in RABBA & her watry Plain,
In ARGOB & in BASAN, to the stream
Of utmost ARNON. Nor content with such
Audacious neighborhood, the wisest heart
Of SOLOMON he led by fraud to build
His Temple right against the Temple of God
On that opprobrious Hill, & made his grove
The pleasant Vally of HINNOM, TOPHET thence
And black GEBENNA call’d, the Type of Hell.
Next CHEMOS, th’ obscene dread of MOABS Sons,
From AROER to NEBO, and the wild
Of Southmost ABRINS; in HESEBON
And HERONAIM, SEONS Realm, beyond
The flowery Dale of SIBMA clad with Vines,
And ELEALE to th’ ASPHALTICK Pool.
PEOR his other Name, when he entic’d
ISRAEL in SITTIM on their march from the NILE
To do him wanton rites, which cost them woe.

Yet thence his lustful Orgies he enlarg’d
Even to that Hill of scandal, by the Grove
Of MOLOCH homicide, lust hard by hate;
Till good JOSIAH drove them thence to Hell.
With these came they, who from the bordring flood
Of old EUPHRATES to the Brook that parts
EGYPT from SYRIAN ground, had general Names
Of BAALIM & ASHTAROTH, those male,
These Feminine. For Spirits when they please
Can either Sex assume, or both; so soft
And uncompunded is their Essence pure,
Not ti’d or manacl’d with joint or limb,
Nor founded on the brittle strength of bones,
Like cumbrous flesh; but in what shape they choose
Dilated or condens’t, bright or obscure,
Can execute their aerie purposes,
And works of love or enmity fulfill.

For those the Race of ISRAEL, oft forsook
Their living strength, & unfrequented left
His righteous Altar, bowing lowly down
To bestial Gods; for which their heads as low
Bow’d down in Battel, sunk before the Spear
Of despicable foes. With these in troop
Came ASTORETH, whom the PHOENICIANS call’d
ASTARTE, Queen of Heav’n, with crescent Horns;
To whose bright Image nightly by the Moon
SIDONIAN Virgins paid their Vows and Songs,
In ZION also not unsung, where stood
Her Temple on th’ offensive Mountain, built
By that uxorious King…”
