This came out around the time General Grant’s book came out, or should I say President Grant? Grant the Great gave up his military pension to become president. Wall Street swindled Abe Lincoln out of his life for them Interest Free Greenbacks he defied them with. Wall Street in their mercy, swindled General and President Grant out of all his money, and his families money, and approaching death, was a poor man leaving his family nothing. Grant, a humble man much like Lee, always said he’d never write any memoir, but the man ate his words before death, putting his family first, and gave us some words. Twas so important to Grant to finish before he die, that instead of morphine, he was taking Cocaine to numb the pain, that way his mind could stay focused enough to finish. (I swear, that’s no exaggeration, look it up). That man fought until the grave. And not in vain, his book sold like crazy! And because Mark Twain was able to wiggle himself in there and look at his contract, seeing the publishing company were only going to offer him 10% of the profits! Well, Twain offered him a generous 70% of the profits, to which Grant still hesitated, for he’d already given the first his word, but upon farther consideration, he put his family above his word for a 2nd time.

The success of the book prompted Lee’s Son to get his out, I believe… I could be wrong on that one, but I believe so. Why am I speaking of Grant and not Lee? Needless to say, Lee had all these traits as well, that is, honor. And when demanded, humility, though I can say with confidence his humility did not match that of Grant’s. For Lee was married to a Washington decscencdent, his Father a big star in the Revolutionary war, from a rich VA family. But even with all this, Lee was a greater General as far as strategy, perhaps the best there ever was. But Grant had heart, and learned quickly, and had unlimited resources, lol. The moral of this advertisement is that we as Americans, and even all humanity, can be proud to boast both of these men. On both sides, we can take pride in our men, encourage to walk with honor as men ourselves going forward, though the heavens fall.
