The book opens with an account recorded in John Fox’s “Book of Martyrs” of a man named John Brown who was martyred in 1511, the circumstances of which are strikingly similar to the account of our beloved John Brown who’s life was freed in 1859. One thing all can be sure of, is that if they don’t know the events surrounding John Brown, then it’s impossible to understand the Civil War. The fact this man raised an entire generation of young men willing to die to free their brother, can’t be denied. What’s incredible is that this man credited with starting the Civil war, was not looking for a fight. Quite literally as Mel Gibson’s “The Patriot”, the fight found John and would not leave him be. His 1st born son was killed by pro-slavery savages for no reason except his political views. His other son came close to death for the same reason. This man found himself in war whether he liked it or not, but to see how he fought is incredible. He defeated Missouri men coming for him, 300 against his 30. He took his enemies captive, and after a long lecture, the Old Preacher released them at the line, fully expecting them to come to war against him again. Truly, this man was not looking for a fight, but war found him. It becomes very apparent that we were in a civil war by 1858 that did not cease until at least 1864.
The pro-slavers were hired mercenary terrorists, literally murdering & terrorizing any people they knew to have anti-slavery views. They had big money behind them, & John? The mighty arm of God. He was claimed this “crazy vigilante terrorist murderer” when in mutual battle, of which he did not start, only one man on the opposing side was killed, and not by him, but by a man in the 2nd group fighting with him, & happened outside his presence. Nevermind the constant terrorizing, intimidation & open killing of these pro-slavery foreign funded invaders of the land. This man’s fearlessness, his witness, it’s of God. That I know. Beware to anyone quick to say, “he’s not of the spirit”. See for yourself. Every man who fought for the North saw him as a hero & martyr. Even though our schools refuse to teach us of the most important character of the Civil war, the 1st opponent of General Robert E. Lee, the greatest Cultural infuence & insight into all that happened; yea even though the slave masters have not ceased, his Spirit Marches on! Yea, the teacher refuse to teach, but the folk song refuses to let his memory die. That folk song we all know very well.
The way the author recounts the many details in this book makes it almost impossible to put down. So many details of circumstance are of prophetic essence. I won’t even begin to touch on it except to say that this John reminds me of John the Baptist who too was Elijah as Christ says. He was the last cry before the spread of full war, the first man on the field, his death being a sign to the world. A man of incredible honesty said, “Abe must increase, & I must decrease”. He didn’t literally say that, but the point is, one can see that Abraham Lincoln’s marketed image was based upon the Nationally famous dead man. It is profound, & this is THE BOOK. This and the first 1859 publication that made John nationally beloved & hated that we also sell here.

“I bought this facsimile copy of the 1522 Erasmus New Testament to put on the shelf next to my facsimile copies of Tyndale's New Testament editions. This facsimile is high quality and a great value for the money, especially for what you will pay for the Tyndale editions (one by Hendrickson is out of print and the other is a premium hardback edition not produced for the mass market). I've not found this particular edition of Erasmus' NT anywhere else. If you're considering this Bible, you are probably not a novice in Ancient Greek; but if you are, a word of caution that it's not suitable for casual study. Due to the archaic printing conventions, i.e. ligatures, and to a lesser extent the Latin introductory material, it will be years until it might turn into a readable copy for me. (If you do read Latin, the Roman font is very readable.) If you're like me, you will want to have one so that you can appreciate the rich history of Classical Greek printing, and the Bible specifically. Every time I open it, it's a step back into centuries of time past.”
